Whose country is it anyway?

Big doings yesterday, as a 21-year-old member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard and online gamer named Jack Teixeira was arrested and charged with stealing classified information and sharing it with other racists and antisemites on a site called Discord.  He may have had nothing more sinister in mind than impressing fellow nerds, but in some places that qualifies as espionage.

Who could possibly defend this punk?  I'm glad you asked.  Let's round up the usual suspects.

"Jack Teixeira is white, male, christian, and antiwar.  That makes him an enemy to the Biden regime.  And he told the truth about troops being on the ground in Ukraine and a lot more.  Ask yourself who is the real enemy?  A young low level national guardsmen [sic]?  Or the..."  Margie Greene, who donated all her capital letters to Trump.  The troops she refers to are fourteen (14) Special Forces deployed to the US embassy.  By way of comparison there are fifty British, seventeen Latvian, fifteen French and one from the Netherlands.  Not even the Lafayette Escadrille.  I assume the Greene Machine or whatever her followers are called know enough to fill in "DEEP STATE!!1!"

Meanwhile in podcast land, Junior Trump was busy comparing Teixeira to Edward Snowden and Julian Assange, those heroes of truth, justice and the fuck-America way, currently eluding Biden's jack-booted thugs overseas.  Junior is seeing the theft of classified documents in a new way since Jack Smith's "witch hunt hoax" opened his eyes.  "Maybe it's just the US government is a bad actor."  Those fourteen Green Berets have Junior worried that World War III is imminent and only Daddy can prevent it.  I can't imagine where he got that idea.

Of course Tucker Carlson was all in for "the kid" who told Americans "what is actually happening in Ukraine," whose president he has already called a pimp and a Nazi.  With Orff-like chords as a background -- no music?  Pity. -- Baby Tuckoo had his viewers turning up their oxygen tanks:  "As we speak, American soldiers are fighting Russian soldiers!  This is a hot war between the two primary nuclear superpowers on earth!  This war...has not been authorized by Congress!  It is a violation of American law!  It is a crime!"  No, this is a crime.

Glenn Greenwald is also unhappy, not necessarily about the "hot war" or the Russian propaganda that Carlson spreads.  He's unhappy because "It was the New York Times and the Washington Post that did the FBI's work and found the leaker and led the FBI to him!"  Outrageous.

And of course Squeaker McCarthy:  "The Biden administration has failed to secure classified information.  Through our committees Congress will get answers as to why they were asleep at the switch."  As soon as they finish with Laptopgate and Alvin Bragg and trying to keep Trump from being indicted for stealing classified information.

A line from The Mikado keeps running through my head:  "There's the idiot who praises in enthusiastic tone All centuries but this and every country but his own..."  I think Mr. Gilbert nailed it.
