This is all perfectly normal
Seven days in December: Freshly pardoned felon Michael Flynn doesn't like the election result, so he wants Trump to "temporarily suspend the Constitution" until Americans have voted correctly under military supervision. He was supported by another retired general named Thomas McInerney. The full text of the call to coup can be found in a full-page ad in the Washington Times because even the New York Post wouldn't take their money. (McInerney is the source of the Secret Vote-Changing Server in Germany story, which is a whole other movie.)
To forgive is divine, but it ain't free: We know how Flynn earned his pardon but what about the others? Since August, federal prosecutors have been investigating a "bribery for pardon" scheme involving many miscreants whose names were redacted from US District Court Judge Beryl Howell's order when it was released yesterday. You know it's true because Trump has already called it "fake news."
Half empty/half full: William Barr called down the wrath of his master when he announced that the Barr Department could find no evidence of voter fraud which would change the election result. However, he added quickly, he has planted a time bomb in the Department in the form of special counsel John Durham, who will continue "investigating" the origins of the Trump-Russia collusion until the end of time. So don't be too mad, OK, please?
Try, try again: The Usual Gang of Idiots is waiting for the Wisconsin Supreme Court to rule against yet another suit, this one basically trying to invalidate all votes cast by Black citizens. How many is that now for the legal equivalent of the Washington Generals?
Mo in thunder! "Die-hard Trumper in House seeks same in Senate for last-ditch election fuckery on Jan. 6. Tweet @RepMoBrooks or leave number in Capitol men's room nearest RELee statue, second stall. No Lincoln Project socialist weirdos. MAGA!"
Laissez les bon temps... Mardi Gras 2021 is cancelled but nothing can stop the annual "swingers' convention" "Naughty in N'awlins." It drew 250 people, 41 of whom have tested positive for covid. I hope it was worth it.
Spin cycle: Not every federal court is clogged with election challenges. US Judge Alison Nathan of the Southern District of New York is preparing to hear this very interesting case involving money stolen from the BTA Bank of Kazakhstan and laundered through the Trump Organization. Remember Felix Sater? Trump doesn't. ("I think he brought coffee once.")
Using their powers for good: Drones have a bad reputation because they kill people, interfere with aviation, spy on us and put package deliverers out of work. Right? Actually drones are morally neutral -- it all depends on who's using them. Right now, for example, they're being used to plant trees on land damaged by wildfires in the west.
An encouraging place to end.
